When it comes to starting a business and building a brand, one of the most important things is that your audience and potential clients/customers trust you and see your business as credible.
When people see you as credible, they are much more likely to:
- Buy from you, plain and simple
- Pay top dollar for your product/service
- Refer their friends
And those are allll things we need in order to build successful businesses!
As a brand strategist and designer, I’m thinking about this a LOT, and it’s something that is kept top of mind when I work one-on-one with my clients on their brand strategy, branding, and web design.
So without further ado, here are 3 key ways to build a brand that’s credible and trustworthy:
1. Create a spectacular customer experience
We can all name brands we’re loyal to not just because of the product/service, but because of the overall experience—maybe the staff is really accommodating, or we always feel we get extra value for our money when we shop there. Think of some examples of good experiences you’ve had (I always think of Trader Joe’s) and see if you can use that to inform how you run your business and therefore foster brand loyalty.
2. Prove yourself through testimonials
When I’m on the fence about buying a product, I go straight for the reviews section. You too? Thought so! In your own business, make sure you have systems in place to collect testimonials from your customers/clients. At Crafted by Carly, I send a feedback form at the end of every project for my client to fill out, and then ask their permission to consolidate their words into a bite-sized review.
3. Be cohesive in your branding, messaging, and tone of voice
We hear it a lot: consistency is king (or in this case, queen). In order for your ideal clients to understand what it is that you’re selling, and what type of value you provide, it’s important that the way you show up across the board feels cohesive and tells the same story. This includes on your website, social media, lead magnet, client calls, and everywhere else you’re showing up in your business.
