Your homepage is often your brand’s first impression—and first impressions matter. When someone lands on your site, you want them to know exactly who you are, what you do, and how you can help them—without having to dig for it.
If you’re building your own site (or planning a refresh), here’s a quick guide to what actually needs to be on your homepage—and what you can leave out.
✅ What to include:
1. A clear headline
This is the first thing someone will read, so make it count. It should quickly communicate who you help and what you offer—no need to be cute or clever.
2. A short intro/about blurb
Just a few sentences to introduce yourself and give a little context. Keep it high-level—your full story can live on the About page.
3. An overview of your services or offer
Give visitors a quick idea of how you can help. This might be a short list of services, a preview of your signature offer, or links to your main packages.
4. A strong call to action
What do you want someone to do next—book a call, browse services, download a freebie? Make it clear and easy.
5. Visuals that reflect your brand
Whether it’s photos, graphics, or color—your homepage should feel like your brand. That doesn’t mean overdoing it. Even a clean layout with a pop of personality can go a long way.
❌ What to skip (for now)
1. Your full life story
Save the deep dive for your About page. Your homepage is about connection and clarity—quickly.
2. Every offer you’ve ever created
Focus on your most relevant or signature offer(s). Too many choices = decision fatigue.
3. Long testimonials
Social proof is great, but keep homepage testimonials short and skimmable. You can link to a full testimonials page if you have one.
In summary…
A well-structured homepage can make your whole site feel more professional, trustworthy, and easy to navigate—which is exactly what my Starter Site is designed to help with.
